Privacy Policy.
Effective . Wend, operated by Agnij Dutta.
Wend is a phone-to-Mac dispatcher for Claude Code. You write a note on your phone; the work runs on your own Mac, under the permissions you have already granted Claude Code, and the result streams back to the note. Our servers are deliberately thin: they pair your phone to your Mac and route notifications. The content of your notes, prompts, code, and results does not reach them.
This policy explains what Wend collects, what it deliberately does not, the legal bases we rely on, and the rights you have over your data. It applies to the Wend phone app, the Wend Mac app, and this site during the alpha.
What we collect and store
- Account and authentication. Your Clerk user id and sign-in details — email or OAuth, including GitHub — handled by Clerk. We do not store your password.
- Pairing tokens. A per-device pairing token that links your phone to your Mac, stored hashed (SHA-256), never in plaintext.
- Push tokens. An Expo push token, so your phone can be notified when a run finishes.
- Device metadata. Platform, device model, an install id, and a last-seen timestamp, used to show and manage your paired devices.
- GitHub App installation id. Only if you use cloud dispatch, which is currently disabled. No such id is stored while cloud is off.
- Content-free usage statistics. Anonymous run statistics — duration and success only — to keep dispatch reliable. These carry no note, prompt, code, or response content.
What we do not collect or store
We do not collect or store your prompt text, note titles or bodies, source code, file contents, repository or folder names, or AI responses. Those are generated and kept on your own Mac; your phone keeps a local copy. Wend routes a note to your machine and streams the result back; it does not retain that content on its servers.
Legal bases
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases for processing.
| Processing | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Account, device pairing, and push notifications | Performance of a contract (providing the service you signed up for) |
| Content-free usage statistics | Legitimate interests (keeping dispatch reliable, with no content processed) |
Your data in transit
In Mac mode, traffic between your phone and your Mac is encrypted with TLS and carried over a Cloudflare quick-tunnel. Your content transits Cloudflare's edge in the course of reaching your Mac, protected by TLS, and is not persisted by Wend. Cloud dispatch is disabled during the alpha, so your Mac is the only place the work runs.
Sub-processors
We use the following third parties to operate Wend. We name them because you should know which providers touch your data.
| Sub-processor | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Clerk | Authentication and account management |
| Cloudflare | Encrypted tunnel transit between phone and Mac (not persisted) |
| Expo | Push notification delivery |
| Vercel | Hosting of this site and our API |
| Neon | Managed Postgres database for account and device records |
Claude Code runs locally on your Mac under your own Anthropic account; Wend does not route your content to Anthropic. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Retention
We keep your account for as long as it is active. Device rows — the hashed pairing token, push token, and device metadata — are kept until you unpair the device or use Reset in the app, which deletes that device's record. Content of runs is not retained by us because it never reaches us. Deletion is handled manually during the alpha; email us and we will remove the records we hold.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, you can request access, correction, deletion, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Under the CCPA and CPRA, you can know what we collect, request deletion, and correct your data.
We do notsell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used under California law. To exercise any right, email agnij@trywend.app.
International transfers
Some of our sub-processors are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. Where required, transfers of personal data out of the EEA or UK rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.
Children
Wend is not intended for children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, or 16 in the EEA and UK, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone below that age.
Changes
This policy may change as the product matures. Material changes will be reflected here and, where we can, communicated to you. Effective date above; last updated .
